GARLAND OF SUCHNESS
Karoline Wileczek

February 1 - 24, 2019

Opening Reception: Friday, February 1, 2019 | 5 - 9 PM during Art Loop

Karoline Wileczek's grid pattern work functions much like the drone in Indian/Hindu music representing the eternal self, or the Braham, behind all the changing forms in her paintings. She uses gravity to help draw the lines of paint. Changing the direction of the pours brings the intersections. These crossings create the interconnection, the overlap, and the bonds between the paintings. An interfusion of forms and materials are harmonized. Color jumps, dances, and is followed in and through her paintings, carrying emotional as well as conceptual weight.

Wileczek holds a Master of Fine Art in painting from the University of Minnesota and a Bachelor of Fine Art from Temple University's Tyler School of Art where she studied with Frank Bramblett and Stanley Whitney. Her work is held in private and corporate collections internationally and she has exhibited her work widely on the national level notably at the Minneapolis Institute of Art, the Soap Factory, and the Painted Bride Art Center. She has been awarded multiple grants and scholarships from various institutions and state agencies. She has kept a studio at The Delaware Contemporary since 2016 and participates in the monthly open studio events during Art Loop.
