A native Delawarean, Monique Rollins graduated from Syracuse University, and received her MFA from Pratt Institute. Having traveled extensively abroad, her paintings and collages take on a Gorky-esque aesthetic appealing to memory, unconscious, and mood. Every gesture, color, and biomorphic forms augur an association to human emotion. Her unique visual vocabulary Margaret Winslow, Curator of Contemporary Art at the Delaware Art Museum, calls “biogeometric abstraction,” that distinctive combination of biomorphic and abstracted geometric forms alluding to memory.
Rollins’ paintings have been exhibited at Metroquadro Gallery in Rivoli, Italy, Emerge Art Fair in Washington DC, Art Basel Miami, Andre Zarre Gallery in New York City, the Beijing American Center in Beijing, Arte Fiera Bologna, and the National Museum of Taras Shevchenko in Kiev, Ukraine. Her works can also be viewed at numerous sites throughout the city of Wilmington, Delaware.
