Claudia is a self-taught artist. For her, making art is not a separate compartment in life but the thread that runs through everything she does. It’s the place she knows she can always go and be welcome, be renewed, be at peace, and be invigorated. It’s the adventure of uncertainty and the satisfaction of finding her way. It’s the expression of the hope and optimism that keeps her going no matter what.
Her work is inspired by her experiences, memories, and emotions. They express her love for color and pattern. The motto she follows is “Give it a try and see what happens.”
Claudia grew up near Nashville, Tennessee and has lived in the Philadelphia area all of her adult life. After graduating from Bryn Mawr College with a degree in English, she spent about 15 years working as a commercial lender to small businesses before leaving the office world. She took up art as a pastime at first, focusing on fabric work, prompted by her sewing skills from childhood. Over the years, she then moved into collage/mixed media, ceramics, and acrylic painting.
She has participated in many exhibits and invitationals over the years in various mediums and also taught classes at art centers and in community settings, focusing on collage/mixed media topics.
