Volunteer Opportunities

Guides are a vital part of the museum’s educational mission, as well as an important link between The Delaware Contemporary and the community. Selected applicants will develop theme-based interactive tours and lead children and adult groups through The Delaware Contemporary galleries. No previous teaching or art experience is required– just commitment and an enthusiasm for learning and sharing information. The application is available online, or you can apply in person at the Delaware Contemporary front desk.

Submit your letter of interest and CV to Jennifer Polillo, Director of Education,

The Delaware Contemporary, a non-collecting art museum located on Wilmington’s Riverfront, is seeking a 20 hour per week Education Intern for an approximately 12 week internship. The Education Intern assists the Director of Education and Education Associate with administrative duties and research associated with varied and numerous education programs. The Education Intern is responsible for assistance with administrative duties, program documentation, and the marketing/communication of The Delaware Contemporary education programs to the public. Preference will be given to candidates with a strong interest in contemporary art and to those wishing to pursue a career in educational work.

A Part-Time Security Guard is needed for weekend and evening hours at the Delaware Contemporary. The hours would include working Saturdays 10am - 5pm, and/or Sundays 12pm - 5pm, and evening coverage during special events (such as First Friday Art on the Town evenings). Part-time guards at the Delaware Contemporary are many times artists still in school or recently graduated, who want to remain involved in the art-related field. Additional security and CPR experience is a plus.

General Description: The Part-Time Security Guard is to ensure a positive, safe and secure environment for the entire facility. This includes the public viewing contemporary art in the galleries, the studio artists in the facilities, and the office area for the staff.
