Give to The Delaware Contemporary

This has been an exciting year for The Delaware Contemporary—full of both dynamic current programming and active planning for the future. Our successful fundraising efforts last year were critical to bringing visibility to over 4,000 regional artists and 9 guest curators through 122 opportunities. Together, we have provided a platform for creative professionals to advance their thinking and practice, and provided a forum for our audiences to converse and experience visual articulations of our dynamic shared world.

What is not always realized is the impact of the small team of 20 full-time and part-time committed individuals who work tirelessly behind the scenes to bring our community together through art. Looking ahead to 2024, our focus is on building support for and growing the careers of these emerging art professionals. The Delaware Contemporary plays a unique role in our community as a place not only for the career development of emerging artists but also job preparedness for arts professionals. We strive to provide job skills through hands-on training to allow our staff to gain experience, knowledge and skills that will support them in the future.

You’ve met “them”—The Delaware Contemporary team. They are the faces that greet you at the door; you see them with artists in the galleries or behind the bar during Art Loops; they have assisted with programs, events and opportunities such Art pARTy or ArtSource; you might have even dined with them at Palette to Palate. They are the ones that represent our organization in the community.

Raising funds to support salaries is one of the most difficult fundraising challenges nonprofits face today. Your support is essential to all we do, and we rely heavily on individual donors to cover our operating expenses. Therefore, our annual campaign this year focuses on salary support. We have a goal of $75,000—which covers nearly 15% of our annual salary expenses.

I am truly grateful for your enthusiasm for the museum and for helping us sustain these essential efforts. Please consider a gift of any size.

In gratitude,

Leslie Shaffer
Executive Director

promotes life long connections with the art of our day by bridging:

art AND community

“Art in public spaces plays a distinguishing role in our country’s history and culture. It reflects and reveals our society, enhances meaning in our civic spaces, and adds uniqueness to our communities. Public art humanizes the built environment. It provides an intersection between past, present, and future between disciplines and ideas. Public art matters because our communities gain cultural, social, and economic value through public art.”
