About The Guest Juror: Cynthia Hawkins
Cynthia Hawkins is a PhD Candidate in American Studies in the Department of Transnational Studies, at the University at Buffalo. She is Gallery Director and Curator for State University of New York, Geneseo’s Bertha V.B. Lederer Gallery and Lockhart Gallery located on Main Street; she received an MA in Museum Studies from Seton Hall University. Her research interests include, 19th century American and African American History, U.S. museum formation, race, gender, identity, citizenship, cultural studies, and colonial and post-colonial studies.
With her scholarship Hawkins maintains an art practice. She is a long time abstract painter, using a variety of mediums. Cynthia Hawkins received a B.A. in painting from Queens College, CUNY, and an MFA in paining from Maryland Institute, College of Art. Her art work has been exhibited throughout the Mid-Atlantic and Mexico, venues include Bronx Museum of Art, Rush Art Foundation, NY, Trenton City Museum, NJ, Aljira a Center for Contemporary Art, NJ, Clark Atlanta University Art Galleries, GA, and the Wilmer Jennings Gallery, NY.
2019 Friends' Juried Group Exhibition

Notification by: February 8, 2019 (due to the volume of applications, only selected artists will be notified)
Exhibition dates: May 21 - September 26, 2019
Application fee: $20
The Delaware Contemporary is accepting applications for the 2019 Friends' Juried Group Exhibition. Applicants must be a current Friend of the museum and must not have had a solo exhibition at The Delaware Contemporary in the last two years or have had work on view at any venue within Delaware in the past two years. Cynthia Hawkins, the guest juror, will select the artwork for this exhibition. As an added benefit, all applicants will have their name and artist website linked on our Artist Friends Directory page regardless of being accepted into the exhibition.
