Trifecta represents the three formats Robert Straight uses in the execution of his work: three-dimensional sculptures, constructed structures, and the more conventional rectangular paintings. Though different in form, the underlying theme of time is present in each piece. A single path of color, a bold line, an irregular shape all convey a journey through time while newspaper collage signifies the day he created each piece. 

Straight's focus lies in an intuitive vision through an organic mathematical language of fractals, string theory, geometry, and algorithms. The relationship of math and science opens possibilities for Straight, where webs, nets, knots, patterns, clusters, and island formations take center stage. Fresh experimentation with strategies, processes, and layers transforms his work into visually appealing aesthetics. Every painting is an individual that demands new ways of thinking and a specific process in its construction.

Straight's newest work uses materials and techniques that vary from acrylic paint to laser cut paper. Forms and patterns allow for multiple interpretations; silhouettes of trees suggest human nerves or veins; webs of imbedded string imply the weave of a traditional canvas. 

Straight received his Bachelor of Fine Arts from California State University at Long Beach, California, and his Master of Fine Arts at Cranbrook Academy of Art in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. He has exhibited in many solo and group exhibitions, including Novella Gallery and 55 Mercer Street in New York, the Carroll House Gallery in New Hampshire, as well as the Delaware Art Museum. He is also affiliated with Schmidt/Dean gallery in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
